Trulli e Valle d'Itria

Il riflesso del sole a primavera sulle pietre che disegnano la Valle d'Itria, inebria i sensi quando si arriva in questa valle distesa nel cuore della Puglia. Inoltrandosi tra i profumi dei fiori appena sbocciati, lungo i muretti a secco che delimitano i posteri in cui si distendono i vitigni Bianco d'Alessano e Verdeca, si raggiungono i candidi borghi medievali di Locorotondo e Cisternino, fino ad arrivare alla barocca Martina Franca, "salotto della Valle d'Itria". Procedendo verso il mare, si raggiunge l'incantevole Ostuni, nota come "città bianca" per il colore delle case che punteggiano il centro storico. Ed è proprio in questo territorio che è nata la famosa costruzione agreste dipinta con il latte di calce buttato a piene mani contro i muri e con il tetto conico di chiancarelle sagomate ad arte dagli artigiani della pietra : il trullo. A migliaia sparsi nelle campagne, i trulli trovano la loro patria eletta ad Alberobello, tappa irrinunciabile dell'itinerario.

Wandering among the scents of newly blooming flowers, along the dry-stone walls that border the posterity in which Bianco d'Alessano and Verdeca vines stretch out, you reach the snow-white medieval villages of Locorotondo and Cisternino, until you reach the baroque Martina Franca, 'salotto of Itria Valley'. Proceeding towards the sea, you reach the enchanting Ostuni, known as the 'white city' for the colour of the houses in the historic centre. And it is in this area that the famous rustic construction was born, painted with lime milk thrown thickly against the walls and with a conical roof of chiancarelle artfully shaped by stone craftsmen: il trullo. Scattered in their thousands across the countryside, the trulli find their chosen home in Alberobello, an essential stop on the itinerary.
