Otranto, dove le radici dell'Albero della Vita traggono nutrimento: non solo metaforicamente, perché proprio l'Albero è al centro dello splendido mosaico pavimentale della cattedrale romanica. Lì la storia continua a vivere nell'arte e nelle testimonianze dell'assedio ottomano. E poi ancora il Castello Aragonese, che ispirò Walpole nel Settecento, e il faro di Punta Palascia, estremo più orientale d'Italia, a strapiombo sul mare e raggiungibile tramite un sentiero.

Santa Cesarea Terme, le cui vie del centro si snodano tra punti panoramici mozzafiato ed eleganti residenze. Tra queste, Villa Sticchi, la cui coloratissima cupola abbraccia l'azzurro del cielo e dell'Adriatico.

Castro, nella cui scogliera è incastonata la Grotta della Zinzulusa, visitabile dalla terraferma. L'antro ospita grandi ambienti decorati, costellati di stalattiti e stalagmiti simili agli "zinzuli", le "pezze appese" in dialetto salentino. Popolano la grotta animali preistorici, correnti calde e sorgenti fredde d'acqua dolce.

Otranto, where the roots of the Tree of Life can feed on: the Tree is at the centre of the stunning mosaic on the floor of the Romanesque Cathedral. History lives there, among the pieces of art and the traces of the Ottoman Siege. But Otranto hosts also the Aragonese Castle, which inspired Horace Walpole and his gothic novel in the 18th century, and Punta Palascia, on a cliff overlooking the sea.

Santa Cesarea Terme, whose streets flow among panoramic views and elegant villas. One of these, Villa Sticchi, shows a colourful dome over the sea of blue.

Castro, where the Grotta Zinzulusa can be visited from the mainland. The cavern hosts huge areas decorated with stalactites and stalagmites similar to "zinzuli", that means "hanging rags" in the local dialect. The cavern is frequented by rare species of prehistoric animals, among warm currents and springs of fresh water.
